All that JAZZ

I have always been in love with the anything that has to do with the 1920's or 30's.  The art, the lifestyle, the attitude, the clothing, LOVE the music and just the energy of what was occurring in those days.  Leave it to New York to have a 1920's Jazz-Age Lawn Party out on Governors Island. The weather was just right to be outside and board the ferry for a free ride over to the island.

The ferry over is a quick 10 minute ride with great views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Downtown Manhattan. Everyone was spread across the lawn on blankets and dressed to impress. I love when everyone goes all out and puts the effort in to their costumes. Everyone was in character, especially out on the dance floor. There were stands set up to buy vintage clothing and hats from the era, good food and a great band playing live. Music was also being played out of beautiful antique phonographs. Activities throughout the day included a pie contest, a game of Tug O' War and croquet.  Luckily they will be doing this again in August so I hope to be able to attend again, but fully decked out in my 1920's very best!
(August 20th & 21st, Governors Island, 11am to 5pm)
