Great weather in DC this weekend, almost felt like the heat we get back in California. Boarded the early morning Amtrak train and headed toward the nations capital. Taking the train can be so relaxing and such a great way to travel. Your mind gets lost in thought or clears away as you gaze at the scenery flashing past you. Add some good music to listen to and you are instantly transferred. No traffic, no check in. Just look for the track you need to board, your train appears at the terminal and you just go.
With only a couple of days to spend at the sights, we took that time to enjoy the major points and of course the gorgeous Botanical Garden. I was so impressed with the Garden, I couldn't believe how many different rooms and different plants were displayed throughout. Here are some of my favorites...
This had to be one of my favorites! My mom explained that at night the leaves on the Prayer Plant fold back into themselves, like hands pressed together in prayer. There are so many wonderful presents that nature gives us to marvel at. It makes you think about how much we pollute the earth and don't give back enough of what it gives to us. This would be a great plant to give as a gift or just to have in your home as a reminder of something greater than us.
The Lincoln Memorial and a reminder of what this nation was built on.
Delicious!
It was nice to be a part of a little history sitting at the counter at this establishment. The energy in here keeps you moving and the music was old school soul mixed in with some hip hop. The people were great and it is a great experience when you sit at the counter.
Enjoyed the sunset with a swim on the rooftop of the Laison Hotel.
Thing One and Thing Two :)
Georgetown Cupcakes
Probably one of the best frostings I have ever tasted on a cupcake. It wasn't stiff, was very fresh and whippy, if that is how I can describe it to do it justice:)

And to top it off we were there to witness the most endearing proposal...
This couple made Georgetown cupcakes that much sweeter and of course she said "YES!"
