Hurricane (Insert my mothers name here)

Trying to find a flashlight  & batteries last weekend was near impossible thanks to the shortcomings of Hurricane Irene thru the city.  Not owning a television was a good and bad thing with the occurrence of this storm. It was a good thing because I wasn't glued to the television watching endless news channels awaiting the storms arrival, but I also had no idea what to expect until I walked the streets. There were lines at every store in the city, shelves beginning to look bare and people kinda preparing every detail of how they were going to ride out the storm.  On Saturday once mass transit shut down, the city dozed off for a nap.  There wasn't much to do since all the businesses were closing, but let me tell you the bars were open and Hurricane specials could be found at every one!

So what to do when everything is shutting down?? Head to those things we used to call video stores, rent a movie...

File in line at your local liquor store and stock up on something to help you cope. I found these lines to  be a lot shorter than expected, worked in my favor though...

Contemplate if you should have grabbed some tape for your windows & realize that the vegetables and wine you prepared with might not be enough...

Continue to stroll back to your apartment, gaze up at the sky changing & hope for the best with what you stocked up on...then...stop for toilet paper, more water, cans of beans & chocolate, because you just never know!
